Unexpectedly, we have a word list. The words to use in your poem are: flat, ring, gaudy, tooth, paper, vessel, lavish, blacklist. The list came from Writers Digest Day 15 prompt. I am reading Iris Murdoch’s A Severed Head, and my poem’s inspired by it. I find an obsessive thread running through her novels. The previous two books I’ve read– The Sea, The Sea; The Black Prince–dwell on the love obsessions of the protagonists, and this one’s no different. It’s utterly disturbing. Like maybe the human psyche is so totally warped, transgressive, etc etc. I’ll be totally wrapped up reading the ending right after posting this.
